my sister and i have been trying to dig up titles of old films that we would like to see again, and the movie the elephant man came to mind.
i must have been about 9 or 10 at the most when it came out.
i can't honestly say i remember crying at the ending, though the enormity of what the main character had done struck me, and i actually understood him.
even at that age.
it’s laudable to be different, to strive to be above the rest in what you do, to be independent, to stand out.
but for those of us who do not have what others take for granted, for whom what is deemed ‘normal’ is denied them, who have always been seen as ‘different’, sometimes, in our heart of hearts, all we ever really, really want, is to be just like everyone else.

halva - thank you. yah sure can do your board as well. i googled how to take care of wooden chopping boards, of course. must use 100% mineral oils. thingie from ikea is specifically for that purpose. you sand off the rough bits, and then we can apply the oil. it will look gorgeous, promise.
des - err, and what were you thinking about? (ps i dont know where my 'game of thrones' book is and am going nuts. needs must re-check feasibility of Lyanna theory...)

des - that jon is not ned's son but lyanna's..and rheagar's (ie of ice and fire). pls check page where she is dying in her bed of blood (childbirth?) and makes ned promise her something. her symbol is blue roses and dany in her vision saw blue roses on an ice wall (jon made lord commander, bk 3?).
then again this would make robert's war somehow wrong.
dammit i wish he would hurry up with book 5!
